<< This is now 22:50, and I am definitely on the plane >>

So I still had more than two hours to spend in Amsterdam, and somehow I started to feel extremely tired. I walked a lot, but just in the very center of the city. I visited at least two, or maybe three bookstores. I have to tell you that at the Swedish airport I bought a book, Tim Harford's The Undercover Economist. In Amsterdam I was just killing time in the English and American bookstores, I just loved them. Of course, I was looking for books by my fve photographer Anton Corbijn, and also found that book by Michka Assayas, the one which is about a prolongued interview with Bono. However tempting these books were, I managed to resist and did not buy them.

Then after a long long time passed I collected Hele at the train station and we walked to the hotel. Quick shower, Laci just called, they were already in a coffee shop with his friend from Hungary. As soon as we refreshed ourselves we started to walk around and finally met the guys. But before that we as well had a spaceshake with Hele.... instead of having lunch. And then we met the boys. We went to this other coffee shop called Baba, and someone rolled a joint.... No effect, I must say. Then we headed out for a short walk as we, the girls, were dying for dinner, and soon the guys left for Tilburg. Before searching for a restaurant we actually saw quite many of them, but since looking for a tapas bar, we never so one. Not even any other kind of restaurant except for fast foodies. Fuck that shit, episode 3.

Herregod! Part II

When I got to Amsterdam, I went to the help desk again, this one for Schipol, their airport itself. The lady understood my problem, and even though she first said she could not help, in the end she told me that Hele’s flight was scheduled to land in Dusseldorf at 8pm…. And originally at 8am ;) So, this got me thinking. The hotel rooms were booked to Helena’s name so I was not sure if I could check in at all or not, decided to call my “wisdom”, i.e. JC, i.e. another Jackbauer. He told me to go downtown and try to check in at the hotel. So I took a train to Amsterdam CS, managed to buy my ticket from the vending machine, then decided to walk around. Well, planned to walk to the hotel, I new I had to follow a certain tram to get there, but it was a bit messy, so I bought a map for 2 euros, and continued my quest.

After a probably 20 minutes of walk I managed to find the hotel which was only about 10 minutes away from the station. Lolll. Walked in, they said it is no problem, they can check me in. The only problem was that there was no available room there until 3pm. Okidok, dropped the luggage, headed for a sunny walk with a map in one hand, and a camera in the other. I walked to Dam square and all those shopping streets. My mobile was dying for a charger so my strategy was to turn it off. I sent a “check sms” to Hele at 5am, and I received the message that she received it around 12pm. Then we contacted each other, she was dead tired, on the way to Amsterdam, supposedly to arrive at 3:44pm.

<< Around 21:45 I boarded, had still some time till the actual boarding time for the plane >>

The morning, somehow in parallel with taking a shower, washing my hair, and putting on my clothes I managed to check where the bust stop was approximately. When I got to the subway station (Drottningholmsgatan entry) I just saw a bus turning, going to Centralen. So now I at least knew where the bus had its stop.

The rest of the trip to Arlanda went perfectly okay. Took the flight to Amsterdam, arrived there on time. But wait, wait… around 3am received an sms from Helena saying that there has been a problem with the navigation system of her aircraft coming from Chicago to Dusseldorf, and they had to do an emergency landing in NY. She was going to be late from Amsterdam. Around 5am she texted me again saying that I should try to check when she was going to arrive when I get to Amsterdam. I went to the only help desk – an SAS one – I had to take a number, even though there was no one waiting there. Anyway, Sweden is a country where you have to take a number even for buying booze. I could choose between SAS or non-SAS flights. Obviously, chose the latter, as Hele took Lufthansa. The lady said she cannot give me any info on the flight due to she cannot give anyone info about any other person. So I only asked about the flight telling her the flight number. No, sorry, she could not help. Fuck that shit, episode 2.

Alright, I promised Helena and some friends, as well as myself, to scrap down the events that occured to us on our trip to Holland and Germany last week. Here comes the first episode ::

Shit happens.... only if you help it. And it breaks down like this…

<< I started to write this post at around 21:20 at Vienna International Airport >>

I left Stockholm almost exactly a week ago. It was Saturday morning, my flight was supposed to take off at 7:30 from Arlanda, so as I am quite an early bird concerning arriving at appointments, airports, etc, I wanted to be there 6 at latest, but possibly earlier. It was all very well planned…. Me walking ten minutes to Fridhemsplan, and taking the Blue Line (subway) to T-Centralen, which is two stops from home. Then walking another ten minutes to the Central Station, and probably wait ten minutes for the next Arlanda Express, which would have then taken me to Arlanda in exactly twenty minutes, and at 200 kmph. Giving the fact that the subway part takes about fifteen minutes max (including waiting for the train), if you add up it approximately takes one hour for me to get to the airport. So I wanted to leave around 4:30am.

First problem occurred when I tried to check the subway schedule for Saturday morning, still on Friday night. I just saw there were no trains before 6am. Fuck that shit, episode 1. I had to go to bed, as my godmum and a friend of hers were there, and I was also very tired. Anyway, checked the journey planner which said I should take either bus 196, 197 or 198 to the Central Station around 4:55. So I was still about to leave the apartment at 4:30, meaning that I was about to wake up at 3:30. And by the time this occurred it was already 11:30pm. Then I tried to check on my mobile where the bus stop is supposed to be, cause I had no idea. Well, I had one, but a very vague one. Anyway, had to give up, could not figure it out.

Utana rohanas le reggelizni, aztan rohanva kicheck a hotelbol. Igazan jo kis hotelben laktunk. Aztan nyakunkba vettuk a varost. Perfekt. Mmmh, aztan a masik konyv, ami nem is egy hanem egyszerre ketto: Covey-tol a First Things First, ami time mgmt-rol szol, illetve a masik cime Presentations that change minds. Remelem jok lesznek. Hat, ja, most ilyen temakban utazom... Este persze azzal telt h jottunk ide Bredaba. Itt a hotel.

Tegnap ugyi 11 korulre ertem be Amsterdam Centralra, onnan kb 10 perc seta a hotelig, ami nekem talan picit tovabb tartott. Aztan beultunk a fiukkal a Baba (yaga) nevu/hangulatu coffee shopba.

Ugyh most fizettem 50 percert kb 1,5 eurot. Labels: project assignment, Rijen Breda Amsterdam Aachen, travel
