Music is Power

Remember the singer of The Verve? You know the guy who sang The Bittersweet Symphony, and in the video he basically ran at everybody who passed his way in the street? Now this guy left the band a couple of years ago, and now is back with a new song entitled Music is Power. And all I'm trying to say now is that my radio is in her right place it's propably time to write a bit about what's inside the box. So yeah, it's hideous, but i was trying to introduce the topic with this song title. Anyway, the Ashcroft song is not really good. So don't bother getting it. Sh**, I'm just over-explaining this... Pardonnez-moi.

In alphabetical order :) but I will not mention everybody cause that would just take tooo much time. Anja Garbarek, with two of my fave songs I Won't Hurt You and The Last Trick, she's just, just great. So enjoy. And then there is Ben Harper, it's weird because I always thought he was this really old guy, and once i saw him perform a song with Jack Johnson and then it turned out his not that old. Anyway, recommended by Whity, so it is a must. Just like Springsteen's Devil's and Dust. As for Damien Rice, when I first saw the movie Closer (yep, w/ Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Clive Owen and Jude Law) I rushed to search for the music. So there's this Irish (?) guy with only one album called O (what a title is that anyway) and some nice-nice background music. Dave Matthews Band. Always. Everywhere. Everyday. De Phazz's Online is just so funny. Dire Straits, well, no apoligies, I like it cause when i was a kid we always listened to the album Brothers in Arms in our Trabi. A lightblue, at the time. No we do not have it anymore :) I really love Romeo and Juliet, and also Six Blade Knife which appeared in which Tarantion movie? Mmmh, don't remember.

I remember when a friend and I was at the Sting show back in 2000 which was in an open air stadium and everybody was sitting on the ground, and when they started to play this song she and i jumped up and started to sing along with Edith Piaf loud. By this song, I mean Je Ne Veux Pas Travailler. Fiction Plan will be doing the preshows for the current Sting tour in Europe, and the lead singer, Joe, is Sting's eldest son. And kinda sounds like his dad. Jack Johnson, don't need to explain this one either. It's Finland, it's Whity again. Neo, I just need it. They're awesome if you like this genre. New Order is just so, so eighties, but Temptation is a good track from the Trainspotting OST. And even Moby did a cover version on his Hotel album, which is also a great version of the song.

Oi Va Voi was great at last year's Sziget Festival, hopefully will be back again. Patti Smith is the grandma of punkrock. Paul Simon's Graceland album is another kid thing, my dad used to like it back in the end of the eitghies. So whenever I hear Graceland, or Under African Skies, or Gumboot, not to mention Call Me Al i have this feeling i wanna sing along and dance. Constantly move. And I really like Placebo, their videos are just so weird and, and I like English Summer Rain. And last but not least, Zero 7, I could listen to them forever, and I know that Pilot likes them too :) So that's it. I don't say that Anja Garbarek is for Longman, or Edith Piaf is for Kaptarlako, or Zero 7 is for Pilot. Or that there is a Radiohead song hidden there somewhere for Whity. Or JJ.... Or U2 for Enzo, and JJ also for honyomi, because then I would just get to the point when I wouldn't know for example what stan&pan would like :) So let's say that there is one for everyone.

it's just that when you get to the point that you have to pass your final exams and you have to defend your thesis you are already well-trained for sitting exams. i mean it's kind of a routine, you know how much to study to pass or achieve a certain grade. so you care less.

the problem comes with the fact that you have only one chance. it's the stake that is so much, it's a lot larger. i had the same feeling with my last exam in february. it's terrible and frustrating when you know that if you fail this time then all your plans and dreams just disappear in a single moment. in fact, now that i thought through it, my whole last year was full of this feeling. i know it comes naturally, and it's again my stupid i'm-so-afraid-of-this-sh*t thinking, but, seriously. when K and i were unable to absolve the last lab class in december and we sucked for weeks doing that crap. when i almost failed to finish my prep course for my thesis and handed it in the last day of the exam period (oh that was such a nice story). and, and, there it goes: i only had two, yesss! exams last term and i had to do them in a week, both were the last occasion to pass them anyway.

and now, again, i have an exam this wednesday, i should've study hard now, instead i am doing it like slow-dancing slow motion. and i should've handed in my thesis more than a week ago. and i can't have it not handed in this friday by latest.

i hear that cracking noise and if i close my eyes i fear the enemy see everything fall apart. gently. to, to small, teeny-tiny bits of dust. i really cannot afford to blew my chances. not now. not that i am this close to the end. close to the edge down by the riveeeer

and of course this whole nervousness shouldn't be a problem if i were am well-prepared.... which, of course, i am miles away.

entropy

i kicked 3 probability theory books with a single move. with my left foot. actually my big toe. and not intentionally, so it kinda hurts. yeah. entropy suxx. i should really range mes trucs. there is this huge mess in my room, books on the floor, clothes everywhere.

just a quickie

j'suis désolées pour ne pas avoir écrit en anglais récemment. i am reaaally sorry. so i know that whity managed to hand in his thesis on time, and that pilot is moving (has moved?) to Bristol for the summer. and, and, oh dear lucas, yes i wrote him an email that as he is in nyc they should really go to see moby in that pub, and they did go to the show as luc lives only 5 blocks away :) quel coincidance.

as for me, my thesis is now 79 pages long which should be enough. the only problem is that the plugin i was developing in Eclipse+GMF is not really working at all. but i have still a week or so. and maybe i could get away with handing in my thesis without having the program work properly. i will only have to defend it june 26 and by then i could probably finish it. hopesooo.

next week i'll have the first of my three final exams, would be formal methods (petri nets, metamodeling, graph transformations, abstract state machines, etc). next weekend is szittyamászó's 1st chillout-weekend in Esztergom. i won't be able to go and relax for 2 days so wikk probably drop in only for the night. get drunk in an hour and then sleep party all night long jump around on the terrace and in the garden kissing all the boys. whatever :)

and i will sooooo sleep outdoors on the terrace with my dearesr friends. wake up to warm sunrise. mmmh.....

after that i have the second of my exams (may 7 or 9), gonna be queueing.

summer plans are a bit hectic now. i am not trying to be pushy here, but guys, who's coming to sziget festival this year? i or you should get your tickets sometimes. okay, i think lucas is out as he is pretty in vegas busy in nyc, and i guess pilot's better things to do. so .... whity, i did ask you a couple of times, and still no answer. i am not trying to be pushy. really. just think about it. reini and his girl might be coming. and i am sure a couple of finns gonna be here (lauri was here last year too).

Hi sweetie!

Sorry I didn't wrote that much the past weeks, I've been really busy. Exams, then searching a flat for this summer... Now I have a place to stay with my darling, a house, but I'll post more next week on my blog, and I will move in there the 1st of June.
So I'm still in Plymouth until then and I don't know if I'll have internet straiht away when I'll be in Bristol.

Could you give me exact dates for the sziget festival? I might have some days free at work and maybe I'll ba able to move! I hope so!
